In this video, we’ll be showing you how to add a Text Box in Google Docs.

Text boxes are handy widgets you can move around that are separate from the main body of text. Google Docs does not make it easy to find this feature, but we’ll show you how to get there. Let’s create a Text Box in Google Docs.

1. Click Insert at the top and then Drawing - New.
2. Click the Text Box icon on the top bar.
3. Now you can draw a Text Box and add text to it.
4. When you’re done hit the Save and Close button at the top right.
5. Click on the Text Box to open options to edit it.
6. Here you can edit the text by clicking the Edit button.
You can also resize the box, but you’ll notice that we can’t move the Text box.
7. To move the Text Box wherever you want, click the middle icon for Wrap Text.
Now you can move the Text Box where you want.

Text Boxes are hidden in the Drawing menu, but Google Docs does have that feature!

Thank you for this tutorial. I don't know what I would be doing for my school project if I didn't find this video.

Question: can you raise the quality if the text as when I tried this, it was slightly blurry. Would this be a problem when printing.

What if you typed something before setting up the new drawing textbox? would it erase all you've written if you did this after typing? Also, I just want to draw boxes around a cluster of ideas so that it's not confusing to read for others. I heard you can't have a paragraph for 1 bullet point and that's why I'm reverted to an alternate. Maybe making borders/boxes around them I thought...?

Is it possible to keep the text inside the text box as "text" ? As in, to have it selectable or possible to come up in a CTRL F query of the document?

Useful. Now can I make my text "move", for example from left to right, continuously in the text box?

How can you add a link on a certain word in the text box?

wow google docs is still trash. If I resize the textbook, it resizes all the words instead of wrapping the text in the box. the quality of the font is also suspect. why can't they just do a real textbox like MS Word?

I don't want to wrap the text box. I want it to be in front of an image. Google docs doesn't work that way it seems.

bruh why did they mmove it to google drawings like what was the point

Why not just have it as a normal feature though? Seems weird that Google of all people would need a work around for such a basic and readily used feature.
