Nope. Forget it. I'm 21 and i still remember how i cried. It made zero sense and i explain easily why:
The first time Greninja used watershurikan and charizard blast burn at the same time, was when Ash commanded it by smashing the shurikan into the ground and with that countering the blast burn (he improvised, lol) and than you tell me at the end, were they again used the same attacks at the exact time, but this time Greninja turning his watershurikan gold, something we have never seen before, while charizard did what? Punch a little harder? And than he wins? I'm not even mentioning the type advantage here, this was absolutely ridiculous.

It felt like a poor set up, Pikachu landed two super effective thunderbolts that apparently did no damage. They also cheated out two of Ash’s mons with an OHKO. It felt like they were really trying to stack this battle more to Alain…

Then that same charizard goes on to be one shotted by Leon’s unevolved one

Those were honestly two of the most dope ass battles in that entire series

Greninja turned this water shutikrn into a super massive spirit bomb rasen shuriken in the final clash. He was already doing decent damage with the base form of the water shuriken, and he had already evolved it to be like a Z move against the Mega Sceptile who 4x resisted it. No way evolving that move to the next level doesn't absolutely 1 shot an opponent he's otherwise meant to be roughly on par with

He really should’ve. I felt it would’ve been the perfect way to end Ash’s time in the main series and then you can introduce your new protagonists in Sun and Moon

He definitely should have won. Considering the nearly two decades of Ls the entire series and promising EVERYONE he was going to win, fans like myself were tired of him losing the leagues. Thank god he won the last two.

Ash absolutely should've won. This legitimately was the strongest we had seen him in the series. Despite his gimmick access in SunMoin and Journeys he was severely underpowered and developed. It felt like a step down from XY

And it's not just that. It's that bros charizard knew thunder punch, you know, just casually something that charizard could not learn at any point.

It’s been years and I’m still mad about that battle, charizard literally hit greninja like 3 times, while greninja hit charizard multiple times with direct hits, to top it off the title of the episode was kalos league victory, so i didn’t expect ash to lose, then charizard loses basically right away in the battle against Leon, the episode still gets me heated.

Yes. He was. Alain was down to just his charizard. You gonna tell me that his charizard was gonna just shrug off a thunderbolt from pikachu who took out his metagross? Add onto that, pikachu got off another few attacks, and then when greninja popped out, charizard took even more super effective damage.

When Greninja came out Charizard had already taken a crazy amount of damage from its earlier battle with Pikachu and Greninja itself hadn’t taken any yet.

On top of that Greninja was giving Charizard an absolute thrashing. Even when you pay attention to the hits in the battle.

Let's remember that Alain's mega circle was designed by Lysandre to absorb mega energy from other mega pokemon. Thus, Alain was unknowingly giving his charizard a literal constant mega doping, and Greninja being able to almost beat him on his own is crazy. After the Kalos story Alain threw away Lysandre's mega circle and charizardite X to find new ones on his own, and since he now had regular mega tools during the world championship, that explains why Leon's Charizard mopped the floor with Alain's mega charizard X.

I think it’s just that people wanted to actually see Ash win a tournament finally, especially when he’s worked the hardest he has yet with a very unique and very powerful Pokémon by his side.
