So true. When my wife and I started dating, she knew I was obsessed with coffee. So every year on our anniversary she would buy me "special" syrups for my coffee. Thing is. I like coffee. Not syrup. I drink it black, unsweetened. That is my preferred way. But did I tell her or complain? It took about 10 years before she realized that I did not really like the syrups... It is hard to get good gifts in the area of someones obsession. They are particular and if it is not exactly right, then it is disappointing.

I'm Australian. We drink beer out of these things because the mainstream beer is so bad that it needs to be served ice cold so as to disguise the taste, and these things keep your hands warm. Also, if you drink it out of a glass you will taste the beer more. You don't want that in an Australian beer.

In Germany, a half liter bottle will last 10-15 minutes. No need for a cooler even when it's 30C outside.
In real life, a lot of Germans drink their beer straight from the bottle and don't care about using a glass or stein - unless it's Weizen / wheat beer which you need to pour into a glass.

as a fellow crocheter, i recommend trying to make a special cozy/cover for one of his beer mugs! that way he can drink it how he likes but it will still remind him of you :)

Living in S. Spain if you pour beer into a glass or stein in summer it gets warmer faster. Even if you chill the glass. If you're drinking bottled or canned beer instead of draft, straight out of the cold bottle is the best choice.

Us low-class Germans don’t have this issue. We just drink it straight out of the bottle - or better - out of the can. Preferably while wearing a Jogginghose. 😂
