What’s wrong with « Miss Meadows » ? A nice idea well served by the excellent Katie Holmes, with a very good support from actors as James Badge Dale, Callan Mulvey, Jean Smart and the little Ava Kolker. A storyline maybe too light that overpowers the dramatic and sad aspects of the script that never really grabs you. The screenwriter and director Karen Leigh Hopkins nicely illustrates this strange "destroy Dorothy" trip, but without enough "mordant" and unfortunately fails quickly in the sequences with Miss Meadows' mother (perhaps deliberately too predictable?). However, better a film that has a tone and fresh qualities that are not fully mastered than many more successful films that ultimately have little to offer. That’s why you need to see “Miss Meadows”. Toodle-oo !
