I feel like this was the downward spiral that left MJ changed and forever scarred not from physical scars but from mental scars. This was ultimately what changed the way he looked and his self-conscious about his appearance even more after this freak accident It's almost saddening to watch the Pepsi commercials afterwards, knowing the pain that he probably indoored from it all and mixing that with his rough past growing up without a childhood deeply affected him, I believe and changed him a lot
