The Robus Golf Modular bulkhead is an excellent choice for lighting low ceilings or narrow corridors.
Pairing it with a microwave sensor can give you a vast array of options when it comes to motion and daylight sensitivity.

In this video, Rick shows you how to take the Robus Golf Modular and easily add the microwave sensor.

But i already know where my microwave is

Saving “a lot” of money is a stretch. It’s an LED light. It costs pennies on the dollar to run all day, microwave sensor may save you a couple bucks over several years, but otherwise it’s really just more of a convenience thing. And as others stated, PIR is better for motion sensors anyways.

They work thru walls too! I use one to tell me there are drug addicts on the communal stairwell.

there good but way too sensitive, even on the lowest setting, put a few up in a stairway tenants were setting them off from behind their doors.

It is a nice bit of engineering as a easy bolt on but my experience with microwave sensors is as others have, they pick up things outside the room they're in so go off all the time, increasing the electricity bill. PIRs are better for most scenarios in my opinion. I would have liked to see some brown sleeving on the live conductors though. 😉

How do these save you money? And what are they used for besides detecting microwaves?

These microwave sensors drive me and customers mad, how they work on the lowest setting through doors and walls I will never know, cost me too much time and money going back to them time and time again, I won’t fit another one

Money savings and mi cable don't belong in the same install

How does sensing if there’s a microwave save me money?

That's a nice design, having it upgradeable instead of just two products.

Plot twist: it was in reverse the whole time. He took their light

I had some of those lights in a works unit I owned . I had nothing but trouble with them so got them replaced with good ones

Why would you run a double insulated plastic light off fire-rated MIMS cable?
How is a few cents of power saving on the sensor gonna mean anything? Wiring that light circuit must've been a total blowout on time and equipment as-is

I fitted one of these lights with a sensor built in, great fitting. Customer well pleased!!

wow. we rarely use MI cable in the states. Could someone tell me in what applications you need to MI cable in Uk?

I got tired to explaining customers that their motion detectors see through walls and always prefer PIR. Much easier to explain and setup, when the magic happens at line of sight.
