Bumpier Skies For All: Climate Change and Turbulence | DRM News
The Singapore Airlines flight from London, which experienced extreme turbulence last May, prompted scientists pointed to the link between climate change and increasing turbulence. Aviation experts and climate scientists concluded that all three types of turbulence are projected to increase on a global scale, across all seasons, as a direct consequence of climate change. Research by climate scientists also looks at how climate modeling is using the insights meteorological studies to mitigate the risks associated with turbulence. We talk to experts to understand what exactly turbulence is and how it is linked to climate change, alongside avenues for future intervention.
