Hi Guys

Welcome to our latest episode in our ADVENTURES in our TINY FLOATING HOME.

This week we experience the highs and low of our CRUISING and OFF GRID LIFESTYLE. The recent floods get the better of us and with dwindling resources we are forced to leave the boat! As we return we are overjoyed to see lower water levels and set off cruising northwards. We cruise by party boats and find out some interesting facts about BORDER REIVER, our TINY FLOATING HOME could have been named after a famous 1960’s motor racing team???
As we cruise into Loughborugh our LIVE ABOARD LIFESTYLE shows us that onboard SAFETY and SECURITY is vital if we are to feel safe on our NARROWBOAT. We experience a threat for the 1st time!!
We finish the day with one of Michael’s famous chicken tandoori, maybe life isn’t so bad after all.

We hope you enjoy a look at our ADVENTURING LIFESTYLE xx

After 18 years in the security industry you learn to trust your instincts. Anticipate and avoid.very few in society can cope with dangerous situations .

I love how you know your husband’s strengths and follow his lead. No talking it out or him having to justify himself, just he said we need to move and your like ok he’s 100% right about these things and off you go. That’s a true partnership and was lovely to watch play out in front of my eyes. Oh and I’m subbing right now, I’ve watched a few of your videos now and have enjoyed them all.

An abundance of caution is never a bad thing in my book - better safe than sorry!
I never realized the complete absence of other boats is also a sign

Glad you made decision to move on .for all the lovely people that exist in the world there will always be one or two that spoil it for the majority. Stay safe & safe travels jeremy & Kim x

I guess if they're bold enough to heckle you from the towpath - they're bold enough to step on board and make a scene. Very street-smart to move along.

"I've got to trust Michael's Judgment, and he'll be completely right" that's a good woman right there. Lovely couple and great videos.

Better be safe than sorry and life on the boats wasnt always safe in the 1960/70s. I enjoyed this and glad you point out the danger of flood water.

So glad you moved on and stayed safe. Gut feeling is everything in a situation like that. Between the floods and the locals you’ve had a real time of it! Here’s to some more peaceful times ahead! 😊

There really are some bell end tossers about. Nothing better to do than cause aggravation and trouble.
Safe journey and happy cruising to you both.

Sorry you had a bad 'experience' in Loughboro. Can't say it's any better or worse than anywhere else in UK - the s**ts are everywhere and it's just a matter of luck if you bump into them.
I think that the towpath gets used more by the undesirables as they are less likely to run into any police presence.
Anyway wishing you a safe journey🍀

So sorry to hear of that you both had such an experience, be well and now relax, knowing that you are far from those miscreants. Keep on, keeping on. Much love and strength from Ireland (Republic of.)

Being overcautious never harmed anyone. Would have done the exact same thing. Well done and keep safe

Great video! I am a local to this area. Firstly, the River Soar flood plain between Leicester and Loughborough is often completely flooded many times per year and great care needs to be taken whenever there is a heavy downpour, as we have all experienced recently. Secondly, there is nowhere in Loughborough that I would recommend anybody stays for any length of time. I lived in that town for many years and, I am sad to report, it is full of drug addicts and undesirables, especially on the route that the canal takes north of the town. The best solution is to plan your route so that you stop south of the town near Pillings Lock and then sail straight through the following morning without stopping. Sad but true. Enjoy your journey guys! x

Years ago life on the canal was so peaceful and are in all places now and nothing and nobody are safe. Its very sad but life is being ruined now by undesirables.Stay safe and stay one step ahead of the dark side.

As a volunteer lock keeper 👍 we also get abusive and confrontational boater 😔 on the upside this was the first time in 6 years just listen to local advice and stay safe.👍

I had youth problems at Fobney Lock Reading in May forgot schools were off
A real nightmare as I am a single handed boater but so lucky another boater wanted to come up Michael so after two youths jumping into the lock in front of my boat as I entered I tried to stay calm but after coming from Newbury in yellow that's a exsperience in its own all the best from Dave !!

So smart to move on to a better location when it doesn't feel very safe. Fortunately we didn't have to do that very often but it did happen. Such culinary skills Michael, looks a lot better that my corned beef hash I attempted occasionally. Looking forward to next weeks adventure! Stay safe!

Hi Jackie & Michael

Glad the river levels went down and you were able to make progress again, you must get a sixth sense of where is safe to moor and Michael's judgement seems spot on

It must get difficult when you get stuck in one place especially for water and supplies

Take care the both of you
Lots of love
Jane & Martin.
