Capitalizing Religion | Capitalism, Modernity, and the Secular

In this video I will examine the critical theory brought forth in Capitalizing Religion: Ideology and the Opiate of the Bourgeoisie by Craig Martin. This work brought up a lot of prescient ideas when considering individualized religion and peak capitalism, modernity, and the secular, and so the second half of this video will find parallels in John Milbank's work and radical orthodoxy.

The "new heavens and new earth" are already obviously upon us though.. "Mark of the beast" is rolling out before our eyes, global governance is already in place.. And we ain't living under secularism, but rather open and unabashed Moloch worship! The "crisis of modernity" is actually centuries behind us- we are now well into the "end times". The only way (some form of) Christianity is going to regain any influence on the trajectory of the Occidental metanarrative is going to be by acknowledging, embracing and offering some useful guidance on how to navigate the apocalypse and construct the "New Jerusalem"..
