Unhelpful line work habits can leave our drawings looking, flat, wooden, overly simplified, and cartooon-like. But it doesn't have to stay this way. A better way to think and apply our line work can transform weak drawings into ones that capture realism in compelling ways. You can do it!. And every drawing used to explain this better way for our lines, has its own video if you want to see and hear about it's drawing in more detail. Don't miss this chance to revolutionise your drawings.

In my brain, "edge" has always equaled "line." Thanks for pointing out that this is not always (and rarely should be) the case!

Thanks for this very important insight-- will indeed be good food for thought before attempting anything.

One of your most useful videos (at least for me) . I think my next step is to do the sketch with a pencil and think about what lines need to really be there. Looks easy when you do it 😂, but I know I have to break some barriers in my brain to be able to do it

This is a great video and reminder. Often in my studies i was more concerned with the placement of the line regarding form, but not considering the lighting, texture and depth.
I *know* these things but i still find myself only applying this stuff in limited fashion aside from the very obvious moments. Again, thanks!

Copic multiliners, pens and markers. I got mine from US Amazon.

Even if I already do this with pencils/painting, it somehow didn't hit me that I can use this same strategy for ink drawing, so thank you for the reminder! Also, have you ever tried printmaking? Because I can't imagine just how marvelous your art would look in the media of dry point and/or etching - that last drawing especially (the two figures walking among the trees) gives me heavy dry point vibes, cheers!

It really depends on the person drawing, if they want it cartoon like or realistic, but if they are watching this channel, one should learn to do it realistic based on your tips. Lived the references shown in this video, your technique really evolve with each new video.

Stephen, what kind of pen(s) do you use? Can I find them in the US?
