The OSS psychological profile of Hitler described his use of the big lie:

His primary rules were: never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it.

Those susceptible to illusory correlation show signs of a desire for control, lack of information, stereotyping, prejudice, and emotional states of mind. Anything sound familiar?🤔

Time for some to wake up and learn some truths, one of which is that psychological manipulation _is real_ and _surprisingly easy_ .

The effect also occurs for the truth. We can overcome Trump’s repeated lies by constantly exposing less engaged voters to the truth!

The scary part is that there are soo many people who cannot understand and see this dynamic at work in the current campaign.

The Illusory Truth Effect is real! In the last year or so I resigned myself to listen to the worst of the worst, Tucker Carlson, Fox News, even Ben Shapiro. But they rarely talked about Trump and when they did it wasn't in the best of light. They disagreed with him and sometime outright challenged and opposed him. But yet everyone around me constantly discussed and talked about how evil Trump is. I didn't understand how his opponents could constantly talk about him, yet his supposed allies couldn't care less about him. It was then I realized that the Illusory Truth Effect can go both ways.
