The issue is that in this movie they have to:
- adress how Palpatine survived
- adress where he was the past 2 movies
- adress his link with Snoke
- adress Leia's death/absence
- adress who is now fighting who. On which side is Kylo
- adress how the Death Star survived
- adress where Lando was
- and since they want to the saga together, surely Anakin would have to appear

All of this, and a new storyline with all the characters featuring, and concluding one would assume with Palpatine dying again, in one movie? How long is this movie going to be?

Like I've been telling everyone before Palpatine is the true dark side of the force he is the true Sith whatever snoke was he was nothing compared to Palpatine and finally he closes the Skywalker lineage of all of Star Wars it ends with him and the Skywalker it is perfect let's hope that this movie comes out good

What else could they do? Smoke is dead and Kylo is a wuss, and they don’t really have time to bring in a whole new villain out of nowhere. This is so pathetic. They’ve got nothing to sell but nostalgia because nobody cares about the new characters. And yet, Han, Luke and the actress Carrie Fischer are all gone. So they gotta make Lando and Palpatine interesting somehow.

So I have a massive Star Wars Episode IX theory. "The Rise of Skywalker" -- the force is neither good nor bad, its based on the user's intentions. i.e. there is no dark side, just angry, hurt people through whom the force manifests as negative energy vs. positive energy. Snoke, who will make a raging comeback as a force ghost, was like a distant cult leader perpetuating the "dark side" by basically manipulating troubled force sensitive people telepathically (see: Anakin Skywalker). There will be a massive battle WITHIN the force of past deceased people like Luke, Palpatine, etc. that mirrors the real world battle between Rey and Kylo.
