Laws in the making - The Cinematograph (Amendment) Bill, 2019

The Bill prohibits and penalises people from using a recording device to make a copy of the film without prior permission. Currently, the film industry faces significant losses due to increase in piracy which has had an impact on the number of people paying to watch a movie in theatres. The purpose of the Bill is to prohibit unauthorised recording in theatre halls by penalising it.
