The president can't just veto a law. If Bundestag and Bundesrat decided to enact it, he MUST sign it. He can only refuse to do so if he believes the law to be unconstitutional. In this case, Bundestag and Bundesrat can either make appropriate changes or sue the president before the constituional court.

sounds like a very flawed system where pretty much anyone who are in The Executive Branch can veto a bill if they wanted to, also remember that Frauke Petry said that The AfD had become an Anarchist Party, and that they were willing to veto any and every bill, whether true or not there will have to be reforms made in case even more extreme parties are elected to Parliament
