Detailed example problem showing how to determine the internal end moments of a statically indeterminate unbraced frame with lateral loading (with sidesway).

Part 1: Problem background, FBD, and exploded drawing
Part 2: Writing out the slope deflection equations
Part 3: Equilibrium equations, solving for displacements, and calculating end moments.

I have never seen anyone so happy doing a slope deflection problem!

I'm sure you get this a lot..but you have no idea how much you help us and your "actual" students better feel grateful as heck for having you _in person_ as their instructor.

It's been long overdue, but now it's here. Statically indeterminate, unbraced (sidesway) frame analysis using slope deflection equations.

Just imagining that, my lecturer have been spent about two weeks explained this with ain't benefits, and I've started smell the F grade and worried all the time .

But because you I got 9.2 out of 10 of the Quiz .

Thanks a lot bro " hug :P "

Great video! Thanks a lot. Do you have any series for mechanics of fluids? That would be really helpful.

Hey Man, can you help me? I have a portal frame similar to this one. I have to solve it using the moment distribution method but my problem is I can't figure out the fixed end moment for member AB. So member AB Is 12m long. Has a 20kN point load acting at 6m and 20kN point load at support B. Could you tell me how to find the fixed end moment for the beam? Cheers!

Do you have a video of such frame with 3 supports and not 2?

Thank you sir but I have a question what if we have a roller support at joint D in that case should thetaD will be considered or not?

Thank you the videos are really helpful for my revision. Just came across a similar question however the member BC is of infinite rigidity. How do we deal with that? Does it mean slope angle b and c are 0? All the slope deflection eqns I wrote are leading me to a dead end. I just assume that all joints will become plastic hinges even if it experience the slightest sway. Appreciate if u could help! Thanks!
