Akio Toyoda Steps Down As Toyota CEO

So I have bad news. Akio Toyoda the man, the myth, the legend behind toyota’s massive push towards a hydrogen future will step down as the companies CEO in April of 2023. Toyota is currently tweaking its executive structure and board of directors. Most notably, Akio Toyoda the president and CEO of the Toyota Motor Corporation, will relinquish his position as head of the Japanese automaker. He will now become the Chairman of the directors with current chairman Takeshi Uchiyamada retiring.

Toyoda wont ever leave this company as the company is practically a part of his family you see Toyoda is the grandson of the company's founder, Kiichiro Toyoda. So when Toyoda moves to the chairman of the board, who will assume the CEO position? Koji Sato, the current CEO of Lexus, the boss of Gazoo Racing. What did akio have to say about the change? In a quote from him on the day of announce ment “"I am a carmaker, through and through. I believe that’s how I have successfully transformed Toyota. However, a carmaker is all that I am. And I see that as my own limit. The new team under upcoming President Sato has a mission to transform Toyota into a mobility company,"”
Now this isn’t necessarily bad news. Koji Sato is a true car enthusiast, and he knows the importance of a cars driving experience. With the development of the new EV LFA he as been spending a lot of time developing an true and engaging manual gearbox for the car. Koji Sato told topgear ", I want another link from the car to the driver. It's not just about efficiency. I love cars and want something different." So he also loves cars like Akio. Which is great. I feel like if you don’t have a love for cars you shouldn’t build them.

Sato and Toyota need to continue down the hydrogen path especially considering Japan and red hydrogen. Another excellent report. 👍

For the 1st initiaves i think ev will be prioritised caused of bz4x problem and the knew it. Needed provides other solution still in future such hybrid, hydrogen, and synfuel engine.

Hydrogen is horrible. Coming from a previous owner of a Toyota Mirai.
