That was...a journey. The almost emo metal style completely changed the meaning of the song for me...rather than an emotionally vanilla romantic love note, this felt how love feels in real life. It's visceral, straining, confusing, and often times, even when it's true love, feels more punk than anything. I thought I was going to hate the bridge part, but thematically, and strangely enough, it worked. It was like someone finally accepted the fact that they will never get over love, and reluctantly, yet admittedly, gave themselves over. And to finish off with that key change was simply sublime...as if to say, perhaps it was worth it and there's beauty to be found amidst the pain of surrender.
