Top 100 Greatest Albums Of All Time - These all-time rankings are based on actual performance on the weekly Billboard Hot 100 (from its launch on Aug. 4, 1958 through Oct. 10, 2015) and Billboard 200 (from Aug. 17, 1963 — when we combined our two leading pop album album charts for stereo and mono releases into one all-encompassing weekly chart — through Oct. 10, 2015). Titles are ranked based on an inverse point system, with weeks at No. 1 earning the greatest value and weeks at lower rungs earning the least. Due to changes in chart methodology over the years, eras are weighted differently to account for chart turnover rates over various periods. Artists are ranked based on the combined point totals, as outlined above, of all their Hot 100 or Billboard 200 chart entries.

this list is stupid because people barely buy albums nowadays so "staying on the charts" doesn't mean anything compared to older days. in its peak, thriller was moving a million copies a week. unheard of nowadays

Some of the biggest selling albums of all don't even make an appearance, and stuff like Whipped Cream and Other Delights, which I don't think anyone who's still alive had heard of, is higher than Sergeant Pepper and Dark Side of the Moon. the biggest album of the 60s was Whipped Cream and Other Delights? What?

I'm sad that Billboard has recently changed their rules on album placements. Thriller would've been #1 and many other old albums would be in here. I love the music from today but it just bothers me how an album that sold 2-3 million at this time can be in this list with other old albums at 8+ million

If you’re going to title your video the greatest albums of all time, make it about which album sold the most copies. Just because an album spent weeks maybe even months on the billboard 100 doesn’t make the album “great”. There are many other factors to take into account when you’re going off they way you based the list. A lot of it probably doesn’t have to do with the album itself. So no 21 by Adele is not the greatest album of all time. It is either thriller or sgt peppers lonely hearts club band there you go

I feel like "Greatest Albums" is a bit misleading as what is "greatest" is a matter of opinion. Also, you might get a lot of people bashing the list because they think it's your opinion and not based on actual statistics (and not read the description because people are idiots) But that being said, the list is a bit saddening and I wonder if I would like the #101-200 choices more. The fact that a Hannah Montana album made it and HSM beating a Beatles album really surprised me.
