If you got in at the very bottom and you’re up 100% then by all means take profits. However, many of us are still bag holding on these stocks despite a 100% increase 😭😭😭

I am a disabled veteran, and I learned that as long as I do not make 10k of more of taxable income a year, I dont have to pay taxes on my gains. So when I sell for a gain I just try to keep it under that 10k a year. It aint much I know, but I am still a small time investor.

I have been selling my tesla here and there to liveand not have to work in WOKE hollywood. Average cost is 67 and i have 245 shares. I rode it to 400 and never sold.

I did exactly the same with Apple as you did back in the late 90’s. Of course that has haunted me over the years, till I found Tesla. So I keep buying Tesla from 2015 on every dip. I will continue to hold for the 5 years.

Second, probably the BEST and CLEAREST video on internet on how and why investing long term. First solve your money problem, investing is not going to solve that. Brilliant, simple and applied common sense wich is the least common of senses.
Do you agree with using a "stop loss"? I mean, I purchased NVIDIA few months before Ucranias war, the stock dropped dramatically down and because i was long term i had a real hard time holding my position....i just made a bad entrance, right now I am making some profit but at some point i was 60% down haha!

I'm up -45% on Palintir! Actually sold a lump when I was 20% down... To buy more Tesla. Joking aside Palintir is going to fly in the next few years.I have a long position on Palintir. And see it in the trillion dollar club by 2030.

This is exactly the video I needed to watch right now. Most of my portfolio is down but I have a few stocks that are killing it like Apple 🍎 which is up 32%. I’ve been so tempted to cash it in and lock in my profits but I keep thinking it’s only gonna get better so why not just leave it alone. Especially considering I don’t need the money that bad.

I do have a question for you though, Luke. If I were to ever take a profit, is it necessary to sell the entire position or can I just sell part of it? I’m assuming the former is the only way to make sure you get all the profits.

I solved the money problem with 12 rental units and i have a job too. However i traded the money instead of buying long term and also picked wrong stock for long term. I did not enjoyed the runs of meta, tesla, google etc. I picked doma and im down 50% form 75k invesment. Now im afraid they will go delisted.

You probably did the right thing selling your apple shares back then, if 600 was a lot, then you needed it, holding would make you roughly 100k a year which rlly isn’t that much
