I used to read only physical books until life became a lot more expensive and living space became less spacious. So to save money and living space, I turned to ebooks and never looked back! 😆 But I do love physical books with my whole heart.

Only somebody who loves books will understand this video. The feel of the weight in your hands, the turning of the pages that creates this soecific sound, the print against the paper which will look different depending where you sit or in which position - not even mentioning cover artwork and the satisfaction of seeing your books on a shelf, as the sign of how you spent valuable time of your life which you can touch and show, recommend and lend to those you love. An ebook is mere data that will vanish with the click of a button, and very often so will the memories of the story and your feelings because as humans we love to see things, use our natural senses, to relive experiences.

I was just thinking about this! The differing experiences of physical books e-books and audiobooks...an interesting topic!

Idk if it's the same for Kindle, but in my ereader (Kobo), when I finish a book it asks me to rate it right away and for me thats satisfying as well haha I've spend a long time saying I would NEVER be the type of person to read an ebook until I bought my kobo and now I love it xd Same satisfaction for me. If there is one difference then it's the fact I dont finish an ebook with a sprained wrist from the weight hahah I still read both tho and this eveloped to the expensive habit of wanting to have both the ebook and paperback of my favourite books :P

I love books. AND digital books are great. As someone with a debilitating illness, I don’t have to fight with keeping the book open or turning the pages. I had to give up reading because I couldn’t manage enough energy to turn the pages. With my ipad, I can prop it up in the perfect position and turning a page is a simple flick across the edge of the screen without having to pin a page up. That might not seem like much, but to many, it’s a life saver. More than anyone, those of us who are bed or housebound need books to read.

For me it's the smell of the ink and paper that makes me spending money on physical books. Especially when they're, like, super old! 📚

I've never walked into a used kindle shop, inhaled deeply and sighed with satisfaction.

I love this! For the longest, I was a paperback lover (still am) but this year for some reason I’ve acquired more hardbacks and you know what, I think I get it now. I still have to remove to paper cover though, too fussy. This really made me laugh, I’ll have to start giving slamming my covers a try.

Bricky books are so satisfying. Even just closing it for the night to get back to it the next morning

Totally get it…but after having to get rid of most of, my collection to move across the country, I have stopped buying physical books.

This cracked me up, oh gosh I get it! Books, the sound and feel of turning pages, are such an ASMR experience. (Have you discovered the book reading ASMR section of youtube? So weird but calming.)

Also, when you hate the book, with an e-reader you can’t have the satisfaction of throwing it across the room without potentially destroying all the books who don’t deserve it.

Befor I even listen to the video ... I like holding it, the feel of it, the smell of freshly printed paper, the sound of turned page, the hardcover, you own sonethibg magnificent!, you see how fast you read, you see " this are the last 50 pages" and all ends 😢, you can take it to the beach.. and very very very very rarely you can use the book ( there was one) to start a barbercue😎...

Although I completely agree, I must say that audiobooks have changed muy life and have helped me read more. Cheers from Spain, I love your Channel.

It's physical punctuation - an extension from the page. Does make me wonder what digital counterpart there could be used/implemented. Likely an audio sting that is triggered by the reader confirming that they've finished reading a piece?

I agree and I have hundreds of physical books at home, but I feel that they keep me where I am in a way. I know that moving out would be much more difficult compared to the time when I had barely any books at all. I felt back then that I am much more mobile. That could actually refer to physical objects in general, but I only have this connection and the feeling of potential regret when I think about books. I also use my ebook reader and I have many books there, but sometimes I feel like I need to read a physical book, especially after a long day in front of screens. The feeling of paper and turning the pages makes me calm and grounded.
