I understand the two obvious reasons why Oppenheimer would be controversial in japan though after just seeing the movie i think whoever reviewed the movie and deemed it not fit for japan kinda missed the point if they think the movie frames Oppenheimer as a hero

Well the movie itself is very against Nuclear Weaponry and treats the subject with a lot of respect. I feel like Japanese audiences would actually like it.

The thing I don't like about the Japanese government is that they are very few movies about ww2 the few they got(35 in total) deal with the shock on the nukes in Japan but they never addressed the war crimes they committed. Even the USA winning the war they're plenty of movies about the horrible crap we did in every war we been in.
