Val Kilmer, star of ‘Top Gun’ and ‘The Doors,’ dies at 65

Val Kilmer, best known for his roles in the iconic films “Top Gun,” "Tombstone," "The Doors" and “Batman Forever,” has died at 65. Kilmer’s daughter, Mercedes Kilmer, told the New York Times that her father died Tuesday from pneumonia and that he was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2014 and later recovered. I grew up during the 90's and the first Batman movie that I ever saw, was 1995's Batman Forever. I loved that movie, and Seal's A Kiss from a Rose song will always be connected to it. Val Kilmer did a fantastic job playing Bruce Wanye. When I watched 1997's Batman and Robin, I always wondered why he wasn't in the movie. Goerge Clooney was good, but he was no Val Kilmer. I didn't watch The Doors and Tombstone until my high school years, and I finally saw 1986's Top Gun during 2015. When Tom Cruise was taking about Top Gun 2, I thought that Val Kilmer's Ice Man was going to doing some flying alongside Maverick in the movie. Sadly, we never got to see happen due to his throat cancer diagnosis. He did a lot of good movies during the 80's and 90's, it was great to see him return for 2022's Top Gun: Maverick.

The Doors. I listen to The Doors. And my old man, said I look similar to him. The hair. I do. I love listening to The Doors. Jim Morrison was a legend. And my older and younger brothers and my father loves Tombstone. Awesome Cowboy movies. Seriously, Jim Morrison has been reincarnated. He has been reborn. Who!? Me. I am Jim Morrison's reincarnation.
