I never understood the "eyesore" argument — meanwhile those who peddle it don't seem have the same problem with smoke stacks, cooling towers, and high voltage, long distance power lines

I remember for a test in geography in year 9 we had to give the pros and cons of wind turbines. And I adamantly refused to give the text book answers that were “it kills birds” and “it looks ugly” cause both were untrue. I wrote “they mess with bats sonar and can kill them” and “some people find them ugly”, cause that is closer to the truth. I always got in SO much trouble cause I refused to just copy the textbook answer

This is such a wholesome video. Here in Norway, the anti-wind lobby is quite strong, and many people therefore oppose them and think they are ugly, but I never agreed. To me, they always seemed like this monument of the future, giant white pillars providing power without burning stuff.

They're so slender and spinny; thin enough not to obstruct the view on the countryside, remarkable enough not to be forgotten.
Plus, a field of them from above look like something straight out of a Ghibli movie

Same! Grew up in north Germany, which is full of these things, but my parents always called them an eyesore. Growing up with them however made me appreciate their look, I could never imagine a flat horizon without these turbines.

They share an almost identical layout to flowers and they go brrrr. Humie brain likely sees them like we see daisies or sunflowers but with the benefit of letting us charge our phones without excess carbon polluting the atmosphere. All big ticks in my book

I just find it amazing how one of the most sleek and futuristic looking things we have it based on ideas and concepts we’ve used for hundreds if not thousands of years

I live in the US in Indiana, a very flat state with nothing but corn and soybeans, but my drive from central Indiana to Northern Indiana for the holidays is always most pleasant when we hit the windmill farms and it feels that there’s a break in the monotony of endless agriculture

The idea that wind turbines are eyesores has been such a given in coverage about them has always made me feel weird about the fact that I like them. It's good to know that other people like them too.

To be fair, most people who think wind turbines are an eyesore have never actually lived near any and are either just afraid of change, or being actively influenced by local energy or mining corporations.
