They will be forced to upgrade from their Commodore 64 operating system! 😁

Travis hit the nail on the head. None of the hams complaining understand what such an incident entails. This is standard procedure for all public companies in similar situations. Maybe this will finally get the ARRL to take their cyber security more seriously. I think they blew it off and didn't take it too seriously... BIG MISTAKE!   73!

I've been keeping a paper log book since first licensed in 1962. And you know...? It has never been hacked.

LOTW itself was not hacked. ARRL took it down on purpose to 'protect the data'. They said so in their latest member report.

Everyone can get hacked. There is no perfect protection. But ARRL clearly didn't have disaster recovery procedures. They weren't prepared for such (expected, to everyone in IT, to happen) event. Which means their IT management is just bad or blocked by upper management. I have no idea what budget ARRL has but well...

I wonder if that's why I couldn't hear their CW practice transmissions when I got back from Hamvention. I bought a straight key on the recommendation from Howard at a Long Island CW club forum as I wanted to get started practicing sending and receiving as soon as I got home (listening to CW under actual over the air conditions). I verified the schedule and checked several frequencies they schedule transmissions on and heard nothing until a couple weeks or so later after I got back home. In the meantime I just used their mp3 recordings which were accessible as normal.

I read somewhere that they don't keep credit card information, not true, I just checked my profile, and my CC information is there.

Might just be another nail in the ARRL coffin.

Since ARRL in 2023 made a profit of 35 million dollars they really should put some of that money back into the business.

I wonder how it will affect the submission of field day logs?😮

This logbook thing might be a good candidate for public block chain technology.

I wonder if they will start charging a FEE to use LoTW after this to pay for its repair, if it was something like only $5 each user per 12 Months that would should cover upgrading it all?
