To Influencers Filming at Busy Commercial Gyms

Personally, I love when people lift, and I love when they share their training videos! Even so, inconveniencing others who simply want to mind their own business and do their own workout without getting caught in someone’s video is not okay. My suggestions:

🎥go when the gym is quieter and film in a space where no one else is around
🎥wait until other people are out of your shot
🎥politely ask if someone wouldn’t mind staying out of your video while you briefly got your desired clip
🎥rent out a private gym space (I used to do this before we built our home gym)
🎥create a home gym space

Remember you’re not entitled to the gym more than the next person simply because you have more followers, or you’re leaner, or you have better strength.

If they act angry for a ruined shot, remind them that this is a gym, not their shooting set

That entitlement along with various other bad experiences at the gym is why I don’t go. A couple years ago I was more overweight than I am now and I went to the gym with my bestfriend, he too is overweight. The men underneath us (literally underneath, a different part of the gym) started laughing at us, staring at us. We just shrugged it off but we later got more and more comments which made us leave. I’m scared this will happen again BUT with the extra risk of being filmed and it’s simply not worth it. I’d almost rather keep that extra 10kg then go viral on tiktok for being overweight and trying to better myself.

And they also didn’t laugh at us for doing something wrong, we were walking.. The only thing they could’ve laughed at is my disabilities which makes me walk slightly limped because of extreme pain (especially when doing something).

Between rude people interrupting your sets, equipment hogs, constant filming and numerous other issues, THIS is why I invested in a home gym.

Personally, I feel super uncomfortable with even being in someone's mirror pic. Like I don't want to me anywhere in social media if I didn't put it up myself

Thats one of the reasons why I am building a home gym. I am overweight and the gym I go to is always crowded and so many people are filming and the girls are so fking rude it's unbelievable. Even when I as a girl ask how many sets they've left on a machine they cut me off and are rude.

I don’t agree that we should ban photography completely in the gym like some people are saying and I completely understand why but I think a better solution would be just to put some mirrors up outside of the locker rooms and away from the machines in an area designated for pics if u wanna take them. I say this because I like the pump pics but the pump goes away before I get home so maybe that’d be nice lol

Filming is very helpful for personal use. It’s too bad people are uploading to the internet these days while not being considerate of others in the gym

I completely agree. Ask for consent when filming and don’t be upset if someone has to enter your shot to get by.
But I have seen a video where a woman is filming without other people in the shot, and there was plenty of room to go around her, but this guy decided to walk through the shot and stand within the frame. She let him know that she was filming, and he said that he knew. I think it’s okay to be annoyed when someone deliberately tries to insert themselves into your space. Like if she were in the way of everyone, that would be one thing, but she filmed the gym after he left to show how much room he had to be anywhere else, and it was kind of frustrating.

Yeah harsh truth but if you can't afford a more private space then maybe you're not that hot in the influencer game and should take it down a notch.
