Overvolting toys! #6

I put higher voltage on more toys primarily using a 0-30V bench power supply. But some toys required even more voltage to die! Used a Variac with a full bridge rectifier (input 230V) when I needed more than 30V.

That panda was hilarious - because its noise maker was mechanical and not electrical, it kept on squeaking right up until the motor popped. Sounded silly to begin with, sounded crazy toward the end. And that caterpiller just needed longer arms and some avgas and it would be able to take off :P

That's one of the first times I've seen a toy's audio get faster instead of it just getting louder until the speaker or what's controlling it dies

The pig probably had the "best" audio circuit China has offered me so far 😂

I got a bit surprised when the caterpillar suddenly started spinning as some component popped (the pop got a bit masked by all the balls falling down on the table unfortunately). Turned out to be pretty funny I think, I was afraid I'd have to scrap it for not being interesting/funny enough 🙂

Funny how the speed of playback on the first toy depends on the voltage just like a tape player. It took 1.3 amps on 10 volts for about 5 seconds to pop the electronics leaving just the motor.

I was doing a normal battle and when I get to the Sabbath Attack, I chose Jack Frost. In that sequence, he runs for a little bit by laughing, falling down, bounces upside down and ran the demons over! The sounds for that Sabbath Attack is using cartoon sound effects because it's just cute to see how that character is being taken as the kids character. I love that and I would definitely be playing lots of Shin Megami Tensei games for the rest of my life!
