I've never searched for the English lyrics before even though I love this timeless song, but now that I did, it is impossible not to notice those are words Itachi is saying to Sasuke.

Especially lyrics like "this pain will protect you" (aka Uchiha Clan Massacre & Itachi's death) or "it told me to follow these scars" (Uchiha Clan Massacre again).
No wonder they played it on the arc when Itachi and Jiraiya died.
