The number of replies where people don't get this is depressing. Maybe the coin analogy is too binary. More like a multisided dice, where the two ideologies are on their sides, but others also exist.

Maybe think of it like this. People are agents in a model. They interact with each other and environmental factors. Ideologies are models of the system within the agents heads. Agents try to impress the ideology onto the connections between the agents through mechanisms based on their internal model. There are a wide range of ideologies and range of mechanisms. In capitalism the basic mechanism is through monetary transactions, in communism it's through organisation bureaucracy.

In practice reality is messy and so mechanisms from multiple ideologies are being used at once. Hence why you can have states with a monarchy, democracy, capitalism and social safety nets all operating together.

how to sound interesting while saying nothing, you can... just... define communism and capitalism for what they are... they are absolutely nothing like "two sides of the same coin", he is using this expression in a way that makes no sense

USA political groups are two sides of one coin, as is capitalism and communism.
All systems of power and control, all governments, all economies, all militaries, are really only one system; Controlism.

This is not true, in no way is a system of money and prices reductive, it is what allows the complexity of the modern real economy to happen, it is literally why Paris is fed every day without massive surpluses or shortages!

🤔 Why can't the existence of private property and outlawing private property be the two sides of the same coin? Oof that's a tough nut. It's a mystery.

In this sense, communism and capitalism are indeed two sides of the same coin since both are internationalists who strive for the abolition of borders and sovereign countries. Both ultimately also result in the same outcome -the monopolization of great capital and the means of production in the hands of a tiny unelected elite who no longer has to adhere to any national laws but can dictate their own rules to which the rest of the people has to submit.
Therefore the real struggle is not about left-wing communism and right-wing capitalism but about nationalism vs. internationalism/globalism.
