A significant rain event is underway in Queensland with “major flooding” plaguing the northeastern state.

Sky News Weather Meteorologist Rob Sharpe reports heavy rain totals have already been reserved, with some areas witnessing 200 to 300 millimetres of rain.

Out to see from Townsville, another band of rain and storm activity remains, posing a threat to land on Tuesday.

We don’t have weather any more. We have rain events, rain bombs, boiling seas. Hmm.

It's estimated that 25% of the steel bridges in the US could fail in 25 years, that's around 10% or 50, 000 of all the bridges, can you believe it? Hope they won’t. But search: Anything that has collapsed or crumbled in the US like "bridges such as I-35W", "roads”, "buildings”, "pedestrian overpasses”, you will see some of them just collapsed themselves without even being flooded or anything. Indeed, this is our wake up call. It's a shame a lot of those that collapsed on themselves didn't last 50 years (some of which less than 10 years) in the US, and the US has been experiencing the number of railroad fatalities and injuries (those onboard the train) at least 10 times higher than China on an annual basis. Just unbelievable. And the US has far less basic infrastructure than China (e.g. bridges, tunnels, dams, buildings, ports, subways, high speed rail, 5/5.5g network, electricity network, etc.), which makes it even far more ironic. Just an example, a very QUICK AND SIMPLE EXAMPLE

This weather "event" is doing the world of good for the people of the inland, many of which complained they didn't any good rain from the events in NQ or from Alfred. This is setting them up for a successful winter and will have a positive flow on effect on the eco system throughout the dry Centre. This talking head, weather man, sounded like the drama queens in the ABC. I expected better from Sky.
