Thanks so much for watching! Is this your first year growing a garden? If not, what mistakes have you made that I didn't cover?

I also live in Oregon about 40 miles southeast of Eugene. I work 60 hrs a week so I haven’t gardened since 2011. This year I ordered a few grow pots. I think I’m going to really enjoy the simplicity and I ordered a hoop house. I will definitely be following you.

Thanks Melissa. No matter how many years I garden, I will always consider myself an amateur, and your videos are always helpful. I moved from Arizona to equatorial South America about 4 years ago, and I can tell you that the transition from seasons, to no seasons, has been quite an adjustment. I still try to grow corn and beans during what should be considered the "warm" months and carrots, lettuce, onions, and beets during what should be considered the "cold" I find it makes very little can't grow cantaloupe, tomatoes, or beans, here, without a greenhouse, no matter what time of corn grows (however matter when!!

Keep up the good work!! PS My chickens do well no matter what the eggs every day beats any other form of wealth!!!

Great video. Thanks for nice video. I think very common mistakes I have made are overwatering, crowding seedlings and not planning the garden space.

Thank you!! Very timely video. It's not my first year gardening but I did build raise boxes this year since it is getting a little more difficult for me to keep up with the weeds. I added in soil in about the bottom 1/3 of the boxes and what I thought was a very good compost. However after planting I noticed the leaves on my tomatoes and cucumbers were more yellow. So I tested the soil and there was almost not nitrogen, high phosphate and very low potassium. I added some nitrogen and working on getting the soil right. So some of the mistakes you mentioned I made this year even though I have been very successful in the past growing in the ground. Again I love you videos!!

Some people say we learn best from our mistakes or hardest times. Bull. We learn best from respecting one another, paying attention and listenning to one another's wisdom. So, thank you so much for sharing your experience, knowledge, intentions and hopes. Love your videos. Please keep learning for all of us. How important planning is, and following a wise plan.

Great information - we've had such a crazy spring already. 3 weeks past frost date and we got a week of freezing nights! Hoping ground will be warm enough to put pepper and tomatoes out this weekend. Enjoy your gardening series :-)

The weather here in Central Massachusetts is crazy this spring. Memorial Day weekend has always been the big garden weekend since as far back as I can remember. This year it has been so cold, especially at night, down into the 20's, that we have to go out to cover all of our cool weather veggies and all the flowers that have already bloomed. We haven't even been able to start hardening off the other plants because of the winds. It has been a bit exhausting. It is actually a good thing that I have been home because of no school, to help my husband. Many thanks for all of your videos. I am learning many new skills.

Such a good video. Thanks, best. Maybe my first mistake this 1st ish year of gardening, having not gardened for decades. I regrew 24 plants from 1 grape tomato after germinating the seeds. Wow. Now, I think I have too many plants. Replanted 15 into bigger 3 and 1 gallon pots. 7 more to go. So, Planting too much of certain foods and not staggering planting is what I would consider a big mistake that I am learning from. Keep on growing on :~)

So good to see your video. I have been growing blue/lake or monte cristo pole beans for a lot of years until the gophers took out my 100+ feet so tried bush last year in raised bed. Really a disappointment. Was interested in your racks for the pole as I have been using the 16 ft panels that I bent 6' up on both sides leaving 4' in center so it was shaped like a U and then staked with T posts at each end. It worked so well and would stack after use inside of each other. Will be digging a trench and putting a hardware trough in it for my pole beans this year as I have caught 17 gophers (most weighing between 1/2+ to 3/4+ pound each). Being from the Valley in Oregon it is great to have Northwest people rather than Southern or East as it is hard to relate growing wise. Hooray for our area!

Learned this quickly about soil health. Palms are dying and just planted a nectarine. I tried watering less watering. Still dying. Did a soil test. Bingo! Had to fertilize. Test your soil and use homemade compost.
