I couldn’t imagine anyone but Robert forester playing max cherry in Jackie brown. He’s absolutely perfect in that part.

Forster just owned the Max character. Clinical, honorable, classic ex-cop carriage and vibes. Just brilliant.

De Niro playing Louis was a rare role when he stepped out of his typical type of character. De Niro played perfectly this one, which makes him a truly great actor

Jackie Brown, imo, is Tarantino’s most underrated film. Another well put together cast. Arguably one of the best soundtracks as well. 😂💯

Some of the best podcast I have seen Quentin on are where the host just lets him talk. Quentin already knows where he wants the story to go and damn are they some legendary stories.

I haven't seen all of Robert De Niro's movies, but the scene when he finally snaps in the parking lot is my favorite bit of acting he has ever done.

I love De Niro in Jackie Brown. It's totally opposite of his usual characters. It's hilarious. Super quiet, super chill, seems a little dumb. Instead playing the typical De Niro intelligent sigma boss he's playing a low-level flunky without a brain.

I think Jackie Brown is a masterpiece. De Niro is fantastic in it. Very subtle performance that gets better when you rewatch it.

JB is actually my favorite Tarantino film and it's criminally underrated. Even the soundtrack is on point.

1) I'm thankful Robert Forrester got to shine later in his career before he died.

2) Pam Grier was 48 when she filmed this and looked 35. Incredible beauty.

3) I'm glad DeNiro took a risk and played such an out of the box character.

4) I think Ordel Robbie is one of the best character performances SLJ ever gave.

5) Keaton is underrated as Ray Nicolette and it's awesome he reprised the role in Out of Sight.

Listening to Quentin is almost as good as watching his movies. It's no wonder, as his movies are so much a part of him. When he retires from features, it would be great to see him explore series work, where he could play in a medium that's more novelistic. As a writer who creates worlds, this form of storytelling would fit perfectly with his strengths. He could weave worlds together tangentially in a way not possible with self contained features. He certainly has nothing left to prove, so jumping into that playground would allow him unconstrained creativity without the limitations of studio features as well as the need to conform to traditional box office expectations.

What’s amazing is that me, as a non-director am imagining myself in his shoes. If DeNiro wanted to be in my movie I’d be like “sure! Whatever part you want!” But Tarantino is such an expert that he knows the nuances of what makes someone good for one part, and bad for another.

Tarantino’s best movie. De Niro was great.

A similar story from Terry Gilliam's 'Brazil'.
De Niro saw the script and wanted to play the part of Jack, the main character's best friend. Gilliam said no, Michael Palin was going to play that. He instead offered De Niro a pretty small part, which De Niro took. He is so funny in the part; he really only has one scene, but he is very memorable.

Tarantino told a story awhile back where he was talking to Scorsese about De Niro years before Jackie Brown. And Scorsese mentioned that if you ever need to describe a character to Bob, talk about the characters shoes, De Niro loves to know about a potential characters shoes. So years later when Tarantino pitched De Niro to play Lewis, the first thing he said was "Lewis is just getting out of prison, and he's been in prison so long that when he's released and gets his clothes back, one of his shoes is folded back onto itself because it's been in storage with boxes on top of it in some warehouse for so long.." And De Niro was hooked, and took the part.

I never ‘got’ Jackie Brown when I saw it in theaters 25 years ago (probably from unrealistic expectations of wanting another ‘Pulp Fiction’ type film), but it’s now near the top of my favorite QT films. Criminally underrated. The moment Jackie is stopped at the airport, she sets all of the elaborate chess pieces into motion to get out of her situation, and she pulls it all off with no room for error…it’s quite masterfully written.

I love seeing Quentin doing podcasts now, getting a better peek into his genius... He has to be the best story teller of our generation, both in person, and in his films.

I've been a De Niro fan since watching The Mission.. The music score and the acting was amazing in that film..

I know Tarantino says people who say Jackie Brown is their favorite Tarantino movie mean they don't like Tarantino's stuff (paraphrasing and probably butchering it) since it's the one movie he adapted. But Jackie Brown is my favorite Tarantino movie, and I love all of his movies. Max was an amazing character. Everyone in that movie was perfect.
