5 Ways to Control Whiteflies

Whiteflies looks like aphids, but are so tiny that they are usually difficult to see. They can be as small as 1/12 of an inch. Don't let these little guys destroy your precious garden. Try these 5 Ways to Control Whiteflies.

Method 1:
Natural Beneficial Predators

Introduce parasitic wasps to your garden. Parasitic wasp causes no harm to people, plants, or animals. They feed only on whiteflies and other garden pests.
You can purchase parasitic wasps online or from agricultural suppliers.

Method 2: Wash Your Leaves

Take a small syringe and wash down the leaves of all of the Whiteflies affected plants. After that, use a hose to spray down all of the affected plants.
This will ensure no adults, larvae, or eggs remain in your garden. A time-consuming method but it's completely free.

Method 3: Apply Insecticidal Soaps

Insecticidal Soaps are affordable and effective. It is also easy to purchase from hardware and agricultural stores. Apply it directly to the leaves.
Make sure to spray the underside of the leaves where eggs are most likely to be attached.

Method 4: Put Out Sticky Traps

It's an organic and less time-consuming method to deal with whiteflies. Sticky Traps lures whiteflies to a single location making it much easier for you to kill them.
These should be put up at the start of spring season and should be replaced regularly.

Method 5: Apply an Oil-Based Solution

Want a more natural solution to whiteflies? Try Organic oils. They are safe for your plants, pets, and children as well. Re-applying is not as often as you may have to do compare to other solutions. These oils can also attract beneficial predators that will naturally control whiteflies.

If the 5 methods unable to address the infestation of whiteflies, contacting a pest control company can be helpful.

What worked for me was crushing (or can be put in a blender) 3-4 garlic cloves, cover with water and let sit overnight. (It will really stink). Strain and put the garlic concentration in a sprayer diluted with water. I was not precise on the measurements and it still got rid of the white flies within 1/2 hour. Spray first thing in the morning. It will not harm beneficial insects but may cause pollinators to avoid the area/plant. Garlic spray works on many garden pests.

After battling with whitefly for many years, trying to do something about them every year, now I just accept that they are part of my garden's ecosystem. My plants (basil, tomatoes and beans) still grow very strongly, despite the whitefly infestations. I put it down to very healthy soil giving the plants the ability to withstand the whitefly attack and still grow. Of course, there are predatory insects galore in the garden as well, which would help. I won't spray any of the 'safer' sprays as they are non-targeted and may affect my predatory mates.

I collected cow urine& cow dung for continious in a 15 litre plastic bucket & after setting it aside for a week i diluted it with water while watering the tree; though no specific ratio, i nixed 3 litres of this mixture to nearly or less than 15 litres of water. The white fly problem was for my 5 year old GUAVA tree leaves. For big cashew tree the above said wasn' t effective ; i sosked the outer dried peels of garlic and the waste the garlic seller throws away, this i collected in a 50 litre plastic drum and filled with water for nearly 15 days once in aweek stir this simply once as a froth like formation happens and this soaking makes a pungent smell try to bear it to get rid of these white mealy bug. Apply this water to the roots of cashew tree by making many holes using 6 inch iron rods nearly 10 inches or more deep .use only the garlic soaked water for one month as u take out water from the 50 litre drum refill it immediately & if possible try to collect some more garlic & garlic peel off waste which the shop keepers throw away.i 'm from palakkad, kerala , India

What is it with ppl using sticky traps? I saw plenty of other insects on the traps. That is cruel. I suggest rethinking this video. Make it humane.
