These guys are all over Niland California, and Slab City. I filmed a smaller one (about 2" long) That got itself caught in a 5 gallon bucket that I had sitting on my porch. I laughed because somehow it caught a bee in the same bucket, or maybe that's what lured it in? Anyway, in the Sonoran Desert, the Camel spiders are macho, they don't eat the honey, they eat the bees.

Solifugids are such amazing invertebrates, and I’m really glad that you were able to find one after all that time! I know the struggle of having an animal elude you that you should have found by all rights, so it was especially cool that you found such nice individual, I’m sure it was very exciting. Great work with the edit and presentation, this had a classic animal planet feel to it and I enjoyed it a lot. Good stuff Donny!

Camel Spiders look scary but are harmless🥰

FYI their bite isn't very strong at all. They will barely break your skin. The footage of birds/mice is opportunistic feeding, they did not kill those animals.

I guess I'm lucky. The first time I saw one of these was on the floor beside my bed. I didn't have to go out searching for it.

Ah yes, the camel spider…. Also known as Satan’s children. If you wan to see them to your hearts content come to the Mojave Desert during the Summer. On any given night you can see 10-20 of em. And the ones out here make your look like a baby.

I’d much rather have a king cobra slither by me then to have one of those things charge me!

There so cool what part of New Mexico did you find them I've been looking for them and haven't found them and what month did you see it

Camel spiders can’t even penetrate your skin. If you draw blood it’s rare to do so. The bite is a 4 on the 1-10 pain scale.

Holy fungus cats!!! I had no idea that you even had Solifugids in the U.S.A! Good grief! They are awesomely cool creatures though. Their chelicerae are massive and very cool too. Another excellent video, well done again! New fan by the way!😁

You’ve definitely got guts of steel! I mean, I’m more terrified of you now, than the camel spider. Massive respect, and what a truly beautiful creature.

This one seemed surprisingly petite. I always think of camel spiders as closer to tarantulas in size, and maybe there are some that are, but I guess there are also smaller one as well. Definitely amazing to get to see one in person!

Omg I can’t believe you handled a small one for your presentation… you should have gotten a much bigger one like maximum size
