The Welcome Table was originally a Jewish tradition, that "all were welcome" to sit at the welcome table, no matter what race or creed they belonged to. In the United States in the 50's attending or putting on a church service saying "all welcome" became a political act as well, in favour of racial desegregation. This song was adopted as a gospel song supporting any gathering in which all were welcome.

Performed by Jonah & the Wailers during the "End the Year on a High Note" concert on 12 December 2010 at Mosman Art Gallery, Sydney, Australia. The concert was produced by Lawrence Davies and Ian Laurence as part of the Acoustic Soiree series.
