It's absolutely horrible how this gets a pass. I've seen some of my favourite creators use the a.i apps and it pains me to see it.
Bet u the guy who commented before me wouldn't be saying that if he got replaced by an a robot or a.i at his job. Assuming he has job.

Those peeps in the "cope" reply thread don't understand a key difference here:

- Art is about human expression. It's literally about the expression of the human experience, and about eliciting a reaction from other humans.
- Other automated processes like it are about producing a product.

Why would people *want* art to lose what makes it great -- the human touch, the interpretation, the stories behind creating art, etc.?

I'd almost understand if visual AI were near-sentient beings that could accurately portray a human experience, and were created to do so. But they're not. The literal nature of these AI is that they're produced to make things cheaper. To feed capitalism.

I'm not even trying to say "capitalism bad" or "art shouldn't be for money." I literally do commissions. Money gives opportunities to amazing artists to produce more of their work.

I'm saying art shouldn't *only* be for money. I'm saying if art becomes *only* about capitalism, then capitalism has ruined art.

ai art is not theft. all ai does is analyze a picture and learn concepts (eg a line, a circle), the same as humans do, so that shouldn't be considered theft because the artists themselves posted the piece to internet for everyone to see and analyze. the human expression argument is not valid unless you use a shitty ass generator like dall e, because there is a human in the process of creating the image and theres a lot you can do to get a picture exactly like you imagine it
