Показать описание
In this video , the detection and confirmation of halide ions in salts solution (Salt analysis) have been explained on the basis of what we see at the surface level (Inside test tubes, precipitate formation) and how reactions takes place at the atomic level.
For Detection test, acidified silver nitrate solution is used
Silver nitrate is acidified using dilute nitric acid
For Confirmation test, ammonia or conc ammonia solution is used
Detection Tests :
On adding few drops of acidified silver nitrate solution to sodium chloride, white ppt of Silver Chloride is formed
On adding few drops of acidified silver nitrate solution to sodium Bromide, pale cream ppt of Silver Bromide is formed
On adding few drops of acidified silver nitrate solution to sodium Iodide, pale yellow ppt of Silver Iodide is formed
Confirmation Test :
On adding ammonia solution to silver chloride ppt, soluble complex of diammine silver ion and chloride ion is formed (ppt dissolves )
On adding ammonia solution to silver bromide ppt, the precipitate does not get dissolve
On adding concentrated ammonia solution to silver bromide ppt, soluble complex of diammine silver ion and bromide ion is formed (ppt dissolves)
On adding ammonia solution or concentrate ammonia solution to silver iodide ppt, the precipitate does not get dissolve
