His embouchure is so relaxed that it almost looks like he's miming. My favourite flutist.

I love how he fades out at 0:12 without going out of tune, it was so smooth. That’s something I definitely have trouble with

This is the best interpretation of "Syrinx" I have ever heard.
I think this is how Debussy would have wanted it to be played.
In this interpretation, I can literally hear or feel the faun who is longing for his lost love.
This is what the piece is about.
It was inspired by the story of Pan (the faun) and Syrinx (the nymph) in Ovid's Metamorphoses.

As an older returning flute amateur, I feel so inspired to practice my tone each week.

Debussy one the absolute greats, I imagine this is how he imagined this to be played, with such passion. Emmanuel Pahud is superb

Je pense que cette version est ma préférée. Pleine d'émotions, un merveilleux son (comme d'habitude avec M. Pahud), de superbes choix artistiques, de belles nuances... un vrai bijou ! Merci :)

Heard this at Epcot’s France Pavillon. Just as wonderful while listening at home.

Wild story. Pan is mourning his lost love, Syrinx by playing the flute he _made out of her_ because she was turned into a reed at her own request in order to dodge his advances in the first place 🤯
