It was 30 years ago on the day before Thanksgiving that Harold Washington died in office.

I remember when he came to Rogers Park right by the el station, I was in 6th grade.

I remember that sad day. I was on a plane headed to Pgh for Thanksgiving when the pilot announced his death . Mr Washington was one of my favorite politicians. He loved Chicago and it's people unlike any other.
