I would like to thank you John, for the deep understand you have of how hard a job it is to be a Police Officer today. Your words where perfect and you spoke so much truth. Today is a different world. Are general public is in a trend of hating police but will be the first ones to call when there in trouble. What is sad we will respond and do what needs to be done to keep them safe. I am a combat Vet of the Iraqi war and sometimes feel I have never left Iraq. God bless you and thank you from the Veteran Affairs Police Department Miami we salute you.

Hard to believe that someone wouldn't know how dangerous it is since he or she have access to seeing what's it like and even pretending to do it playing cops and robbers games with toy guns.

If people treat cops horribly maybe it's because that's how cops treat ordinary, law abiding citizens.
Out of that 14, 000 killed "in the line of duty" how many were killed on one vehicle automobile accidents? Thousands I'll bet. You try to make it sound like they were all gunned down by gangsters or something. Being a cop is not even on the list of top ten most dangerous jobs. In fact it's #16, right after taxi drivers.
You are right about on thing, people, good ordinary law abiding citizens have lost respect for "law enforcement" in America. Respect is earned, and cops today have earned very little but contempt, fear, and hatred.
But you want to stop "telling the bad stories about cops". Hey good idea, let's just ignore the fact that police in America kill over 1, 000 people every year while police in all of western Europe and the British Ilse kill less that a dozen and hope the problem will go away. Let's not talk about the beatings, the perjury, the false arrests, the botched swat raids, the cover ups, the plain incompetence, and the lack of professionalism, it's not a problem. Let's just sweep it all under the rug and pretend it's all good. Great idea, that's the way to fun a free society.
Tell your story to Alex Wubbles who was assaulted and falsely arrested by a Salt Lake City detective on orders from his watch commander while several other cops stood around and watched. Or Justine Damond. Oh, wait, you can't tell it to Justine, she was murdered by a cop. Try telling it to Kelly Thomas, oh. no you can't tell him either, he was beaten to death by 6 Fullerton, Ca. cops. Tell it to Bryce Masters, who was tased into a coma, handcuffed and dropped face first onto the pavement for not rolling down his window all the way during a traffic stop. Tell it to James Blake who was violently tackled, thrown to the ground, cuffed, arrested, and held because he was "mistaken" for a person wanted for a non violent crime. Try telling it to the thousands of people who every year have their rights violated, their property stolen, their freedom taken away, and their lives ruined by violent, thuggish, criminal or indifferent, incompetent cops.
Please answer me this John. In what way shape or manner does putting on a blue costume, a tin badges and strapping on a gun entitle someone to respect?
