Do you have any pest pressure. I’m in the desert and I am fighting birds, rats, mice and now the lizard’s have discovered my figs. They all know when they are getting ripe, and they eat half, leaving the rest for the ants. Not many left on the tree to finish the season. Thought about the little bags but can’t see the ripening. Very similar to my Black Genoa - i can seem to taste sugar crystals in the centre its sooo sweet but not too drippy moist - just right. The Italian Honey Gold is great too.

Love this info . I just got a violet de Bordeaux in August this year it grew figs on it before I could plant it . I planted it the first few days in October hoping the figs would ripen so I could taste them . it is the middle of October and it looks like they are almost ready to eat in a day or two but I thought it was strange that it happened so late in the year this Video helped a lot to know that it’s not strange . I think it must have been from a cutting because I heard they take on the maturity of the mother plant and will fruit in the first year . My plant is only about two or three foot tall LOL.😂

15 years and my brown turkey actually has its first fig .it is getting very cold now and its only half grown so its not going to do any good but exciting all the same for me .also i have spotted some little fat fruit buds on some of the branches .i think im supposed to leave them on the tree to develop next year ?

Isn’t it the best fig ever? It’s even better (in my zone 4 climate) than the col de dame noir figs I tried in a market in Spain and they were perfectly ripe picked that same morning
