Poco M4 Pro 5G Review | Proper Upgrade vs M3 Pro

Reviewing the Poco M4 Pro 5G, a budget smartphone boasting decent specs, enough gaming grunt to run PubG and CoDM, plus a stripped-back camera and Xiaomi’s MiUI 12.5. I’ve been testing the Poco M4 Pro 5G as my full time phone for a few days now so here’s my final verdict. Check out my reviews of the latest affordable Android mobiles in 2021 for more ideas.

This handset offers several upgrades vs the older M3 Pro, including improved performance with a Dimensity 810 chipset. Everyday running was smooth and speedy, while gamers can get involved with PubG and other not-too-demanding titles.

The Poco M4 Pro 5G’s dual lens camera doesn’t waste time with macro lenses and other randomness. It’s a basic shooter for sure, churning out less than perfect pics if conditions aren’t just right, but it’s fine for simple snaps.

Battery life is another winner, while the 6.6-inch IPS screen is decent for media streaming. You have a kind-of stereo speaker setup, plus headphone jack. And the rest of the specs are solid, including expandable storage and NFC.

Thank you for the reviews, we have watched so many over the last few days hunting a new phone for my son, we have based on the videos plumbed for one of these seemed to be a fantastic package for what he was looking for, also having a good discount today we only paid £184!

I wonder if he knows most of his audience wont even buy most of the stuff he reciews but stays for his rambles and commentary. Maybe he does and thats how he sustains his power 👁👄👁

Definitely you are so underrated, and I appreciate your humor as well as the reviews you do! Keep up the amazing work

Another week, another Xiaomi / Redmi / Poco. Decent enough mid ranger but, like many from the Xiaomi stable, the price on the day will be more likely to determine which one becomes a Christmas present for an undemanding friend.

Another good review, thank you x

This is definitely a good upgrade with the Dimensity SoC and it is also priced well IMO

I've upgraded from my antient samsung galaxy s5 to the POCO M4 Pro 5G so for me personally compared with the galaxy s5 this is an awesome phone because it's better than the galaxy s5 in every way.
It does exactly what I expected it to do, the UI is different of course but it didn't take very long for me to get used to it.
I do have one problem though which is the bluetooth connection to one of my devices that I can't get configured the right way and it's very specific.

The issue is that I can see the bluetooth device (which is an electronic USB tester/meter) and I can connect to it it seems and the device even shows it's connected but for the app called E-Test to work correctly I have to give the app the permission to use my bluetooth and my gps so I need to be able to set that particular permission to always and there's no way that I'm aware of to add that permission manually or do something to make that change in some kind of way but I've tried everything that I know and I've gone through every different way to get into the bluetooth settings menus and the permissions menus but I just can't find it and don't know how to make that change.

So if you or anyone else knows how to do it then please let me know because it's driving me crazy that I was using my bluetooth meter just fine on my old phone that doesn't work anymore otherwise I would have used my old phone for this one thing but that's not the case so I must use my new phone for this and it's very frustrating that I can set a simple permission setting on a brand new phone.

I'm so happy these small companies are making the smartphone market more competition. Rather than just being Apple and Samsung.

Remember the original Poco X3 NFC?
Well I got one & the security & system APP updates have been OK for a basic, 2nd phone. It's reception is great on 3 (which is VERY poor locally) 5G hardly exists locally on any network.
