In order to perform fast retrieval of data from a Data warehouse, projects are mostly dependent upon Dimensional Modelling. Though there are multiple types of dimensional modeling that can be used to retrieve data from a Data warehouse, the most common one being Slowly Changing Dimensions

What are Slowly Changing Dimensions(SCD)?

​In DWH the tables which consist of informational data(for eg: name, age, description, address, etc) are the dimensions. The dimensions which can maintain current and historical data are termed as slowly changing dimensions. These slowly changing dimensions help in tracking data change for the dimensional attributes so as to create reports with historical data.

Most commonly used SCD's in dimensional modeling are -
SCD 1 - Updating older value with new values from the source
SCD 2 - Addition of a record with an active flag value to identify a new record
SCD 3 - Addition of a column with the new record
SCD 6(1+2+3) - Combination of above 3 approaches

For updt udpt do i need to pull the key from updt strategy transformation to the target? We are only updating the end date for the updated record so connecting the key to the target from the update strategy transformation is not required I guess.
