I thought phone gimbals were useless. But now Insta360 Flow has become one of my most useful accessories and has a permanent spot in my camera bag. In this video I talk about whether you need it especially if you've never used a phone gimbal before. And I also compare it to the most popular phone gimbal in the market, the DJI Osmo Mobile 6, for tracking performance as well as features. Finally, I discuss whether the Insta360 Flow is practical and easy to use.

Thanks for the thorough review! Just a quick note, you might want to check if your phone supports intelligent follow 6.0 because as far as I'm aware, OM6 has received a firmware update, enabling it to support human body tracking in zoom mode. Great work otherwise!

This review is one of the best in my opinion. I am a casual consumer who just wants to have higher quality videos for travel purposes. I value convenience over functionality since I am a beginner. Functionality of course is still a priority but if my purpose is to use it for travel purposes I am ok with the con’s you’ve listed mainly because I do not see this being the last purchase of this kind that I’ll make. I’m into surfskating and want the ability to solo record myself with the tripod in parking lots and skateparks. Your review helped answer the question of how far away will the Flow track me skating. Other reviewers did not cover this question.

awesome vid Mic, but ouch... you've paid the price... the ground wins. what were you using in your monolog after the 12:03 mark? the Insta360 flow? seemed like a little too much correction for your slight movements? Also to note, was that your framing or the unit as lots of head space.

Convenience is a little overrated. The iSteady M6 does better person tracking and does it in any app because it is hardware tracking. Hardware tracking means you can use it with any camera it can take, including a gopro, small mirrorless and so on. You can also track with any settings enabled because it isn't software dependant. Higher payload, 1/4 connection points, etc in addition to all this makes it the obvious choice. It taking 20 seconds instead of 5 seconds to set up is hardly important.

I just bought the Insta360 X3 and then before it got here I ordered the Flow, and now I'm wondering why I ordered the Flow. It seems to me that the X3 can do almost anything the Flow can do. Tracking is done with a 360 degree lens. Like when I want to ride my motorcycle past the camera, in the past I had to ride past the camera with it facing toward my oncoming bike, then go back and move the camera (iPhone or GoPro Hero 5) to face the direction of the retreating motorcycle and then stitch them together in post editing, but with the X3 I can take one shot of the bike going past the camera and the 360 lens catches me coming and going. Likewise with the flow, it can track (follow) me coming and going, so I'm wondering why I got the Flow. Also both the X3 and the flow can simulate a drone fly-over with a long selfie stick, my other desire to do with a camera. So far I'm still studying the X3 and trying to learn how to use it and haven't played with the Flow yet, but I'm thinking I'll be disappointed?
