You need to listen to the original performance from the 1950's. This live performance is too laid back from the original release.

Chuck Berry is a great musician and a Great American.

I was 12 when this came out. Chuck and a hundred other black musicians taught my generation that talent has no skin color, emotions are for all humans, fun is too. I'd listen to these songs on the radio under a pillow so my Dad wouldn't hear. I loved it.

Chuck Berry was such a careful lyricist. You think he's talking about his lover and then slowly reveals it's his little girl. That's tough!

One of the fathers of rock'n roll.. "Johnny B Goode" is his biggest hit. He just recently passed away.

I wouldn't have picked this song to introduce you to him. This guy is a legend and was a huge influence on most of the big rock bands that followed. The Beatles, the Stones, et.al...

I remember seeing his cousin, Marvin, playing with Marty McFly. Talented group! Love your heart, girl! It is indeed a beautiful thing when music brings us together!

Chuck Berry was the greatest singer songwriter in rock n roll history. this is kind of a weird version of this song. his most popular songs were rockabilly but he was also a great blues man. most of his music came out on Chess records same label as Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf, Little Walter and Bo Diddley. They all had stage names Charles Berry was his real name.

A ton of people will argue that Chuck Berry is the King of Rock ‘n’ roll. He influenced so many musicians from Led Zeppelin to AC/DC to Black Sabbath and beyond.Because of him, we have so much variety within the rock and metal genres . We should all be grateful for Mr. Berry!

Chuck Berry. Godfather of Rock and Roll. Yes, everybody swooned over Elvis calling him 'The King', and Elvis is extremely talented, but Chuck crossed boundaries and influenced far more people. Chuck was also one of Rock's 'Showman'. You can see it in the way he struts across the stage with his guitar. Chuck's face should be placed on a Rock-n-Roll Mt. Rushmore.

Chuck Berry is an absolute legend all ovee the world. It was funny seeing him play with an equally older Rolling Stones. Keith Richard was actually both in awe and terrified of him at the same time. And he is affraid of no one.

By the time this performance was recorded, Chuck had been playing this song for 15 years or more. The song was so familiar to his audience he could just play all around the licks that had made it famous. Definitely you should listen to the original to get a hint at the revolutionary new sounds Berry gifted the new genre of Rock and Roll.

This is part of a narrative song cycle. Most people (who know their old-school rock and roll) will know that the song Little Marie is the next instalment. But - people often miss this - the saga of Marie and her family begins with...Sweet Little Rock And Roller.
