Robert Greene and Ryan Holiday discuss the concept of 'amor fati' and Robert's latest book "The Laws of Human Nature."

Robert Greene is the best-selling author of "The 48 Laws of Power," "The Art of Seduction," "The 33 Strategies of War," and "Mastery." In "The Laws of Human Nature," he develops the themes of his prior work into an ambitious examination of the underlying, unseen forces that drive human action.

You can't teach attitude. It's definitely something you have to practice and especially practice in the worst of conditions. Love this talk.

Pain is inevitable.Suffering is optional.Pain is the currency of value.Without Pain(or potential loss), theres no possible way of knowing the value of anything at all.We value life due to the possibility of dying for example.

I did not know Mr. Greene had a stroke and I am so sorry. This has been so helpful. It gave me better clarity as of 'Amor Fati'. I liked when he talked Nietzsche.

Both your guy’s books have effected me more than anything I’ve lived so far.

The obstacle is the way. Read the road less traveled. The opening line of that book is "life is suffering ". The faster you learn this the better off you will be.

When I was training in the military I reached a point of physical and mental exhaustion. In order to push through the seemingly unsurpassable moment I would unknowingly turn to this concept in my soul. Unknowingly and unwittingly practicing the principles of stoicism helped offload the stress that was and that was to come.
The battlefield to the boardroom was initially a tough transition. I was amazed and annoyed with the self centered mentality of society most whom have never known the harsh reality of the world. We vets used to joke that we suffered more PTSD from dealing with the ignorance of the sheeple than the cruel enlightenment of mankind’s worst nature experienced in the third world. Trust me when I say we are all blessed to be sons and daughters of Rome no matter our grievances.
I really appreciate your perspective Ryan & personally believe these principles can help those who have suffered PTSD no matter the root cause. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻⚔️🇺🇸⚔️

I love listening to Robert Greene. He was a forceful personality and clear thinker before his stroke. Now he is also soulful and heroic.

Life does not involve pain. Life IS pain with a few fleeting moments of joy.
