Unfortunately, Hurd believes that a President's job is "to represent his voters." That's what's wrong with today's GOP. It is tribal and too focused solely on wealthy donors. The greatest _reformer_ Presidents in history all gave speeches that the President's job, after elected, is to always try to represent as many Americans as he possibly can.

Hurd is about the only GOP candidate so far to demonstrate the sort of resolute calmness and decency that you would have expected from a Republican Presidential candidate pre-Trump era.

He can see quite clearly and undeniably that Trump is a "nut job" and doesn't really deserve to get back in the White House but he also has the respect for the current President Biden even though he most likely disagrees with a lot of his policies.
