Installing solar panels on a wall with DIY timber brackets

I installed a set of used JA Solar panels and an ABB Aurora 4kW inverter in the north of England.

There are lots of rules and regulations when dealing with solar, you should heed them. They are probably different depending on where you are.

Owen, just an extra thought, running an inverter near it's rated capacity breaks the 2nd rule of solar panels, so a separate inverter will ensure longevity, see my video on this: solar grid inverters, prevent failure. it's that whole balance between efficiency and longevity, cheers

I didn't contemplate wooden shelves, but I'm considering this now too

Looks really nice. You could also use a varnish for the wood that will subtly blend into with the brick.

Would love to see a follow up video on this, on how the vertical panels are performing. My options for install are a 9m x 2m garden wall, south facing, or a pitched roof 3 stories up. I'm wondering if the garden wall would be better for winter, with the low sun and would like to avoid having scaffolding, having easier maintenance etc. Thanks for the video!

How much did you generate with these? I’ve put 2 panels up with unistrut but am yet to wire it up.

Owen, so that length of roof rail for the top panels was just right as you were not working between two fixed points, made it easier. I like the inverted angles to hold the bottom in place and the rubber to reduce corrosion, don't forget the book, cheers, Andy
