May 2, 1992 - Cleveland Cavaliers guard Steve Kerr made the most of his 11 minutes off the bench, hitting 3-of-4 shots from the field— including this 50-footer—in helping propel his team to a 101-76 win over the Boston Celtics in Game 1 of the 1992 Eastern Conference Semi-Finals.

The Cavaliers went on to eliminate the Celtics in seven games, ending Larry Bird's NBA career on an unceremonious note. Bird averaged 11.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5.3 assists in four injury-stricken appearances throughout the series.

Kerr played four seasons in Cleveland before stopping over in Orlando and finally catching on in Chicago, where he played a key role in the Bulls' three NBA championships in 1996, 1997, and 1998.

Coincidentally, Kerr went to to work alongside play-by-play voice Marv Albert as a member of TNT's broadcast team in the early to mid-2000's. Albert can be heard calling the game in the clip above.

Moreover, as head coach of the Golden State Warriors, Kerr played his former team (the Cavaliers) in four consecutive Finals series between 2015 and 2018. Kerr's Warriors won three out of four of those matchups.

I remember watching this live. Who could imagine he will be coaching a guy that seems to do thing like this by routine.

A nice reminder Kerr and Danny Ferry were teammates in Cleveland.
Eleven years later, they're teammates for the third and last time as they helped/guided the SA Spurs to its 2nd Title.

This was a 7 game 2nd round series with the Cavs and Celtics. Such an underrated series because it was happening at the same time of that classic 7 game Knicks/bulls series

The cavs could have been a dominant team if they kept ron harper and had steve kerr as a sixth man

I respect Coach Kerr more than ever, even though I'm not a Warriors fan and our Cavs struggled against them decades after this game.

It’s Crazy Ironic That He Coaches Steph Curry And I Swear It Looks Like Steph Has Made So Many Similar Shots With The Same Form💜🫡

McHale messed up by not passing out of the double team when he had the chance. Poor play on his part.

Dee Brown with an unwise lunge towards Kerr during the shot. When someone is shooting from that far out never give the refs any excuse or reason to make a foul call.
