In this lesson we'll examine 3 phase AC systems on an introductory level. We'll discuss the advantages of 3 phase AC, examine the generation process, look at both Y and delta configurations, and learn to calculate line to neutral and line to line voltage for different types of 3 phase AC systems. (Full Lecture)

These videos are an amazing help. I am a Navy ET transitioning into the civilian job market and your videos help us brush up on the basics needed for job interviews as well as to learn more applicable knowledge for the civilian industrial work force. Keep these videos coming!!

at 28:50 how are you getting the line to line voltage/angle. I'm not seeing how substituting the given values for L1 and L2 get you to 380v @degrees. I understand because of the explanation before this, however im not seeing the shortcut to getting the line to line voltage. Thank you for an explanation you can give!

Pytels street cred just levelled up quoting Atmosphere. You a stand up guy for these vids.

Your surfing analogy for the potential difference between phases is really helpful. This makes it much easier to understand what this difference actually means.

great video, lost me at the math bit, but your explanation of the principles were solid.👍

So my so called" smart ass " apprentices (all 10 of them) like to show off as to how smart they are, until I play a couple of your videos at break or lunch. It's fun to watch them turn their video games, stop bragging about how drunk they were the night before, and pay 100% attention to your lectures. Good Job !!!
I even get a refresher, and a headache, but the look on their faces is priceless 😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳 😂🤣

I am trying to convert my drone's motor bought from DJI from delta configuration to y configuration to make it spin a quieter propeller at a slower speed and found your video very good for the basic concepts. But the drone motor has 14 magnets in 7 repelling pairs, and the 12 windings make counter polar forces in 6 pairs. I am failing my attempt. I used to rewind the entire motor myself that worked well. So, I maybe that is what I will do next.

Work is being done on both sides of the axis? The further each wave is from zero, the more capacity it has for doing work?

43:00 Im a little confused here - you were talking about sources and then you are talking about windings. Can sb sum up sth for me?
Delta for sources : line to line voltage = phase voltage
Delta for windings : line to line voltage = phase*sqrt(3) voltage ??

hi jim, i recently saw a video of yours and you said you worked in the semiconductor industry before. i know its just one google click away but mind if you tell us what kind of jobs can we look for with a BS in EE?

Your LL KoolTeq analogy reminds me of an ex girlfriend. She had me close but then moved on to something else and I lost it completely.. then after feeling like a 1 leg cat tryna bury a turd on a frozen pond, at 40:45 I found myself back in familiar territory. Where many people may be ok without understanding how this all works, as long as it does work, I am not one of those people

Thank you Jim for all the videos again and again. I have a question do you plan to make RC, RL Circuits or first/second differential circuits analysis?
