this is what people think how cg is made for years. Now it's getting more accurate

The problem isn’t when filmmakers use it of their own accord, it’s when accountants chime in with “We could have one free intern use this tool instead of paying all those greedy professional animators and VFX people!” And then comes the bidding limbo contest to see who can go the lowest.

THIS is a real game changer...once this launches and gets a little more refined it will be used all over the place. This will make independent films sci fi and horror sooo much better!

Coming from the art and illustration industry I can tell you this: Prepare to replaced.

It's amazing to see so many people with zero Ai experience rashly decrying it's development. It's very new just wait a bit and things will even themselves out. Don't panic and don't attack any open minded creatives exploring new opportunities as these tools develop.

Man, for something thats in early early phase. There are some scenes and parts where it truly shines and shows so much insane potential.

This will be a total game changer if it has Turbulent Displace added to it.

There goes that 3d animation degree. Live action guys will be the next "candlemakers" in the age of this light bulb.

What I love about this compared to other AI tools is that it doesn't take the power out of the creative's hands and it doesn't literally do all the work for the creator. It's not built around the idea of "Hey, want to be an animator but don't want to have to do any of that animating bullcrap?" It's clear that the people behind Wonder Studio care about the industry and aren't promoting a service that will be used as a grift that ultimately stiffs artists. This is what AI tools are supposed to be, tools that simplify a process that is otherwise prohibitively expensive or overly tedious . You still have to film. Your actor still has to do a decent job performing. You still have to put in the work to get good results. It still requires at least some discipline to get something worthwhile, and that's what separates it from other generative AI tools.

15 years ago at University the remove / clean plate / change the feet of a real character on a handheld shot was huge task ask by teacher to students in 4th year (think end bachelor / early master). This is huge and scary at the same time. As clean plates and roto is the entry level job for most SFX artist before accessing to higher jobs in the industry.

The background replacement issues stem from it needing data of areas that it fills in so having just a few frames of clear video before your character enters or even moving back and forth across a room apparently helps massively. Shots of a character walking through a corridor will always be hard as there is little room for the ML to see what is behind the character full stop.

I can imagine this working better with just doing motion capture for CGI projects since you don't have to worry about blending a model into it's environment (which is the hardest part for the AI here). I always thought that such tech should be possible with things like Kinect and I'm surprised we don't see more of it.

This is really great. I attempted a kids show with characters a while back using the excellent rotobrush 2 in After Effects, it took a crazy amount of time and effort to get a couple of minutes of footage so I abandoned the project. But this looks amazing - maybe I'll go for another attempt, depending on how the tests go once I get access.

For anyone looking to hear the real reason why this is not scary and in fact very encouraging for VFX artists and Filmmakers take a listen to FX Guide's interview with the Co-Founders that is very enlightening and where they talk primarily about how this isn't a One-Click solution but a starting point.

10:01 Well put, my thoughts exactly. It scares me too but fighting it is a waste of time. Might as well see what it can do for you

cyberpunk Pulp Fiction needs to happen. The robot added something to that scene I would have never imagined

I understand that this cool in a technical way. But I still feel that this big AI steps is the first ever killer for artists… and some ppl say that you still need artists to do these changes. But I think it will be more like persons who just learn to do click and drag without even be interested in movies or animations. Even creating the renders will be done by AI so no need anymore for Artists…
